Recent rumours that Cord co-principal Raila Odinga will endorse ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi for 2017 presidential election might just be a sweet tune aimed at attracting Luhya voters.
Having tried his presidential bids in 1997, 2007 and 2013, it is apparent that the desire of Raila to lead Kenya is insatiable.
He still wants to run for the presidency in 2017 and the idea that he will support Mudavadi in 2017 might leave a bad taste for the Luhya community when Raila's name appears on the ballot paper.
In 2013, Mudavadi failed to be endorsed as the next Jubilee presidential candidate. This left a bitter taste that made him vow to never work with Jubilee again.
However, 2017 polls hold a clueless scenario for Cord coalition with ANCs inclusion making it more clueless.
The likes of Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula will not easily allow Mudavadi to carry the flag of Cord come 2017.
As Cord continues to gamble on who to support for the 2017 presidential election, the three Cord co-principals Mr Odinga, Mr Wetangula and Mr Musyoka can end up taking different political paths come 2017.
With the inclusion Mr Mudavadi in Cord's political ship, things will only be more complicated.
Odinga's political career cannot be marched by the likes of Moses Wetang'ula and Mudavadi and it will be very hurtful to Western Kenya if Raila remains in the ballot papers come 2017.
Raila still has quite a big share of Western Kenya votes and he can still vie for the presidency with hopes of gunnering a big amount of votes from the Luhya people.
To end all speculations and uncertainty among the Cord fraternity, Odinga, Wetang'ula and Musyoka should either come up with a final list of individuals who will lead Cord in 2017 polls.
They should also clearly state the position of ANCs Mudavadi in case he is joining the coalition. This will help end the darkness etched in the supporters of all the four leaders.
