A Kisii MP has slammed opposition leader Raila Odinga for allegedly issuing ultimatums to the government and challenged him to follow due process to address IEBC crisis.
Mr Odinga and members of his Coalition for Reforms and Democracy nominated a team that is expected to take part in negotiations and vowed to go back to streets if the government fails to appoint people to join the opposition to negations.
But Bomachoge Borabu MP Joel Onyancha has accused the opposition of ‘bad’ faith and challenged Odinga to rally his troops in parliament to initiate a process of IEBC removal.
“I think Cord has people who are conversant with the rule of law and it’s sad that they are issuing ultimatums on a matter that can be solved in parliament,” he said on a telephone call.
“Their move is in bad faith and I think the former Premier is misleading the nation. All we need is harmony and following the due process of the law. They should prepare their troops, convince parliament and we initiate the removal process of the commissioners,” he added.
He appealed to the opposition to call off any planned demonstrations arguing that it would set a bad precedent for the country.
“Let us follow properly constituted institutions so that we don’t set a bad precedence. Demonstrations are not the solution to our problems and it’s my appeal to Cord to call off any planned demos for the sake of peace and stability,” he said.
