A renowned political analyst has dismissed calls by Nasa leader Raila Odinga to have a three-tier government in the country saying such calls are not genuine.
Dr Alutalala Mukhwana on Thursday questioned the sincerity in Mr Odinga's quest for the new changes saying that the former prime minister had seriously transformed following his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta in March.
" What Kenyans should be asking is, were the 2017 elections to go Mr Odinga's way, would he have advocated for the same? And to what extent should we revise this constitution which we were told is 90 percent good? The reality of the matter is that Mr Odinga no longer stands with the ideals he held prior to his famous handshake with president Uhuru Kenyatta," he told Radio Maisha.
According to Mr Odinga, there is need to introduce a third level of government in the form of 14 regional or provincial blocs to facilitate the operation and disbursement of resources between the national government and the counties across the country.
This he added would help counter the problems occasioned by the sizes of devolved units in the country.
The move, if considered could see the country gear up for another top-notch political campaign through a referendum.
