Opposition leader Raila Odinga has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court to nullify the election of Uhuru Kenyatta.

Addressing the press at the court’s premises on Friday shortly after the ruling, Mr Odinga said the verdict set a precedent in the country and Africa.

The NASA leader said the opposition will move to court to investigate the conduct of IEBC officials.

Mr Odinga said they do not have confidence in the Wafula Chebukati led commission.

In their ruling, Chief Justice David Maraga said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission failed to conduct the polls in accordance to the Constitution.

Maraga ordered the IEBC to organise and conduct fresh presidential elections within 60 days, as in the Constitution.

Two judges - Jackton Ojwang' and Njoki Ndung'u - however, dissented with the decision of the other five judges.

The duo said they were not convinced with the evidence presented by Mr Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
