NASA leader Raila Odinga has responded to concerns raised by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i that repeat polls should be conducted before October 23, so as not to complicate the national exams.

Odinga said the election is an important matter and thus the education ministry should push the exam dates by two weeks to allow Kenyans exercise their democratic right.

"The exams can be pushed, there is no harm in pushing the exams by two weeks, the children are not going to die," said Odinga.

"So this excuse by Matiang'i that in order not to delay exams and soon, students are just going home for holidays. So there is no reason why we cannot delay the exams by two weeks to conduct such an important national exercise," he added.

His co-principal Moses Wetangula also claimed that there was suspected sinister motive in announcing October 17th as the elections date.

"To decipher that Matiang'i says in the morning that he wants the elections on 17th and in the afternoon IEBC says the election is on 17th. I am sure you can see who is controlling who," said Wetangula.
