Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar’s defection from NASA to Jubilee came as a surprise not only to Wiper but the entire NASA fraternity.Omar vied for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat on a Wiper ticket but lost to ODM’s Hassan Joho.Speaking during a NASA rally at Mama Ngina grounds in Mombasa on Sunday, opposition leader Raila Odinga referred to Omar as a son who has been misled by the Jubilee Party.Raila recalled an opposition rally that was held on August 4, 2017 in Mombasa where he was forced to intervene after Omar and Joho’s supporters clashed.“Mnakumbuka mara ya mwisho tulikuwa hapa, nilishika mkono ya Hassan na ya Joho na nikasema ni vijana wangu, alipokuwa yeye anafoka foka hapa.(You remember the last day here when I held both of them, and I said it clear that these are my sons while he was yapping here.),” said Raila. However, Raila avoided talking about Omar’s defection saying he was innocent and still young in politics. He instead promised to deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto whom he accused of buying opposition politicians.“I have said I can’t speak about Hassan Omar because he is my son. I talk about those who are above him, those who are holding him,” said Raila.
