NASA leader Raila Odinga has ruled out refunding campaign funds that had been contributed by his supporters to facilitate his presidential campaigns.
Speaking in an interview on Radio Jambo on Wednesday, the former Prime Minister said that the money was contributed willingly by Kenyans of good will to support his campaigns and that refunding is impossible as it has already been spent.
"The money was contributed by our supporters to facilitate our campaigns willingly. Further, we have not withdrawn from the race, we are only calling for fresh elections...The money contributed was not saved because we are not banks...we were spending it on campaigns as it was coming," Raila told Radio Jambo's Joseph Ogidi.
Raila's statement comes against the backdrop of mixed reactions on social media platforms with some of those who had sent their contributions to NASA feeling cheated by the coalition following his decision to pull out of the October 26 repeat presidential race.
While withdrawing from the race, Raila blamed IEBC and Jubilee for allegedly colluding to rig the poll in favour of the ruling party and give President Uhuru Kenyatta an undeserved win.
