The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has answered queries among Opposition supporters regarding the process of picking NASA flag bearer.
Raila jetted back to the country on Monday from the United States.
Sources within the National Super Alliance have for a long time talked of hard line positions and crisis within the Opposition coalition.
Raila, however, blamed the reports on State security agencies.
The former Prime Minister said the Jubilee government was tensed over the upcoming general election.
“A number of us in NASA have been in politics and public life long enough to notice when the so-called unease is being pushed and exaggerated by the Government using intelligence agencies, and that is what is going on,” Raila told the Standard in an interview.
He said Jubilee was feeding the media with propaganda with an aim of making their supporters give up.
“Jubilee has deployed the services of the NIS (National Intelligence Service) to feed media with information exaggerating discord in Opposition ranks. The aim is to make our supporters give up and also to break up the Opposition,” he said on Monday.
On reports that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka could go it alone in the August polls, Raila said the former vice president is in NASA to stay.
“I have no reason to believe that Hon Kalonzo will go it alone. He has been very clear that he is in NASA to stay and I have no reason to second-guess him. Kalonzo has addressed press conferences and public rallies including last weekend where he stated categorically that he is in NASA,” he said.
NASA has until April 15 to submit to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) the name of its presidential candidate.
