Cord Leader Raila Amolo Odinga fight to ascend to power has been dealt a major blow after The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal on Saturday barred Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) from presenting the name of lawyer Edwin Sifuna's name to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as the senatorial aspirant for Nairobi.

Raila fight to control Nairobi ahead of the forthcoming general election has continued to receive many challenges as Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama hints at shifting his political base to this part of the nation.

The directive barring the party from nominating Sifuna came after Gabriel Bukachi, popularly known as Chapia Chapia filed a complainant after the political outfit claimed that Sifuna will not be subjected to nominations.

Chapia took to social Media and posted: “By God's grace, today we managed to stop our opponent's certificate.I thank you, my supporters, for standing with me as I continue to seek internal democracy within ODM. The struggle continues.”

If the party does not challenge the order from the Tribunal before the polls, Chapia will be presented to lock horns with Jubilee's Johnson Sakaja in the August elections.

Former Prime minister’s side opted to front  Sifuna for the seat because the leaders believed that he is stronger than Chapia.
