A section of farmers from the region has lamented that NASA Leaders are shielding persons behind the collapse of Mumias Sugar Company, adding that they will not vote for the former prime minister on these grounds.
The farmers have lamented that opposition has clearly shown that it will not do much if elected. We want those who looted Mumias to be arrested and prosecuted.
NASA is shielding people who stole from Mumias and unless they tell them to pay back what they took, no votes for NASA,” said Juvenalis Orao, one of the farmers in the area as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.
The remarks of the farmers come after Deputy William Ruto also accused the former prime minister and Dr Evans Kidero for the collapse of the milling company.
''Kidero should tell his friend to repay the debts he owes the sugar factory so that farmers who are suffering due to financial difficulties and poor management of the factory in the past can be paid their money,” the DP is quoted.
Raila and his team will have to pitch tents in this part of the nation to win the support of the farmers.
