Former Speaker of the National Assembly Farah Maalim has defended his earlier position to oppose the controversial 'swearing in' of NASA Raila Odinga in January.
In a post on his Twitter handle which is seemingly directed at his critics who have asked him to 'accept and move on' following High Court ruling to dismiss his petition challenging the election of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, Maalim has stood his ground defending his opposition to the swearing in of Raila and his number two, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
" I never said let's move on. I opposed the swearing in of Raila and I still do. I had called for national dialogue. Failing which engage in peaceful mass action till total electoral justice up to immediate free elections is achieved. Let's be honest. What has the swearing-in changed?," Maalim said.
In a ruling made on Tuesday, Lady Justice Ongundi dismissed the former lawmaker's petition saying that he failed to prove that Duale was not validly elected. She further slapped Maalim with Ksh. 6 million in costs. However, he has vowed to appeal the ruling.
