Traditionally, the building hosts Kenya's president, although the current occupant, Uhuru Kenyatta, prefers operating from State House.

Multiple sources within government indicate that Raila will work from the building with another option of paying for rent for his Upperhill offices being under consideration.

"The offices are being renovated to host him and a number of advisors," aa government source was quoted.

The source further said: " A part from the building,  the government could also pay for his Upperhill offices."

While the content of his MoU with Uhuru still remains a mystery,  sources say Raila would act as Kenya's chief envoy to war torn countries and plans are in place to also set an office for him in Addis Ababa.

With his new status still anonymous,  on Friday at Kisii, county commander was in charge of his convoy, something that is only accorded to the president.
