The National Super Alliance (NASA) campaigners are set to launch massive grassroots campaigns in Uasin Gishu aimed at ensuring their presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, gets more votes in the county that is considered a key Jubilee party stronghold.

The campaigners that include candidates who vied for various elective positions in the county have been holding meetings to strategise on how to conduct successful campaigns ahead of the October 17 fresh presidential elections.

According to Moira Chepkok who unsuccessfully vied for the Uasin Gishu Woman Representative seat on Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket, they intent to focus their campaigns in rural areas.

The group has already unveiled a pay bill number that will be used to raise funds for their grassroots campaigns.

"We are setting up a team that will crisscross this county with an aim of ensuring Raila Odinga gets more votes," Moira told the press in Eldoret on Wednesday.

"Our target is to get at least 100,000 votes which we know is very achievable," she added.

In the August elections whose Presidential results were nullified by the Supreme Court, Raila Odinga garnered slightly over 70,000 votes in the County with 450,055 registered voters while President Uhuru Kenyatta had over 260,000 votes.
