ODM leader Raila Odinga is set to chair a National Governing Council on Friday at Orange House with filling of party's positions being on top of the agenda.

And according to the source, city lawyer Edwin Sifuna would take over the position that Zani took on acting capacity following resignation of Ababu Namwamba in 2016.

"The party has resolved to have Sifuna as the Secretary General and this will be effected today," said the source, who spoke in confidence.

He added: "It is the general believe that Sifuna is vibrant and would help spearhead revamping of the party at this critical time."

While Zani's replacement may not trigger differences within the party, the party would be however be keen to know whether she will be interested to continue serving as deputy.

Raila appointed Namwamba to the post after a vicious internal war between the latter and Zani, who would later be appointed as Namwamba's deputy.

The party is also expected to fill the position of Vice Chairperson, a position that was left vacant by Paul Otuoma, who quit ODM last year.
