Mr Bosire was among the eight MPs detained by police for four days last week before being charged with hate speech at a Nairobi court.

And on Thursday, Nyamira woman rep Alice Chae said the Cord leader would be among the high-profile leaders present, adding that the ODM caravan would make stop-overs at Keroka in Masaba North and Manga sub-counties where Mr Odinga is expected to address rallies.

“I want to confirm that the homecoming of my colleague Timothy Bosire will be on Sunday and our party leader Raila Odinga will be present. We also have several other Cord leaders who have confirmed attendance,” she said.

“Raila will address public rallies at Keroka market before proceeding to Manga stadium. We will use the occasion to sell the opposition's manifesto to the locals and at the same time share light moments with Mr Bosire,” she added in a Nyamira WhatsApp group.

She urged residents to turn up in large numbers to show their solidarity with Mr Bosire and appealed for peace throughout the event.

“I appeal to all our supporters to turn up in large numbers to show solidarity with Mr Bosire. We must also maintain peace because Cord is a peaceful coalition,” she said.
