NASA presidential candidate for the forthcoming August general elections Raila Odinga has promised to make Diwali a national holiday should his bid sail through.

Speaking while meeting members of the Hindu community at the Oshwal Center in Nairobi Sunday,Odinga said that he will look into the interests of the community unlike the Jubilee regime which he said has sidelined the community.

''Jubilee clearly has nothing to offer the Hindu people and that disqualifies them from getting the Hindu vote.We have and will start be declaring Diwali a national holiday and ensure that Indians enjoy same privileges like the other Kenyans,'' said Odinga.

This however comes only moments after the business community which first set foot in the nation during the colonial era when its people were brought in by the British to help in the construction of the Kenya-Uganda railway was absorbed into the Kenyan tribe list as the 44th tribe.

Both Odinga and the Jubilee candidate President Uhuru Kenyatta are leaving no stone unturned with each eyeing a  bigger percentage of the over 19 million votes up for grabs.
