ODM party leader Raila Odinga will on Sunday meet selected opinion and elected leaders from Nandi County.
A dispatch from the Cord secretariat said the opposition chief will use the meeting to discuss various issues including the recent insecurity along the Kisumu-Nandi border.
"Hon Raila Odinga will hold a meeting at the border of Kisumu and Nandi counties on peace and tranquility in the area," the dispatch signed by Cord Communications Director Philip Etale read in part.
The meeting will be held at Kibigori, a shanty town along the border of the two counties.
Kibigori was in January hit by a wave of clashes pitting the Luo and the Nandi communities.
Five people were killed during the violent clashes that were triggered off by cattle rustling.
By the time of the publication of this story, it was still unclear whether Mr Odinga will use the meeting to woo the Nandi community to the opposition as he prepares to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2017 polls.
Local leaders at the onset of the clashes condemned police for alleged slow response.
They said although the clashes were recurrent, in January, residents of the Luo and Kalenjin communities were well armed implying the fighting was well planned and coordinated.
Nandi borders Uasin Gishu County the home county of Deputy President William Ruto where Uhuru garnered over 80 percent of the presidential votes during the 2013 general elections.
Former Cabinet Ministers Dr Sally Kosgei (Higher Education) and Henry Kosgey (Industrialisation) who backed Mr Odinga during the 2013 polls come from Nandi County.
