ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Friday met all party aspirants from Nyanza.

Details from the meeting remain scanty but sources disclosed to a local daily that the gathering was meant to quell tensions and possible falling-out following bruising party primaries.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is said to have attended the meeting.

The meeting was convened after concerns were raised regarding the primaries. It is alleged that the April nominations strained relationships among party members, prompting a huge number of aspirants to opt to run as independent candidates in the coming August 8 elections.
