At Migori on Saturday, Orengo gave a closest hint on Odinga's political future despite claims that he would retire.

"My boss is still strong and will not quit. He must be on ballot so underestimate him at your own peril," he said."

Since entering a political working pact with president Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila has discouraged 2022 succession politics on grounds that it is premature.

But in a statement released by his spokesman Dennis Onyango, Raila has dismissed claims that he is plotting to try his fifth stab at presidency.

"Raila Odinga has read with dismay an article in the Sunday Standard that he will run for presidency in 2022. The headline is baseless because it is attributed to people believed to be his closest allies," read the statement.

"He is not interested in 2022 and he is only keen to have the working pact with Uhuru implemented."

At Kisumu also on Saturday, Orengo insisted that Raila must be on ballot and urged his competitors to be ready for the showdown.
