Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) Co-principal Raila Odinga has lashed out at Deputy President William Ruto while on his (Odinga's) massive voter registration campaign in Western Kenya.
Bungoma County was the stage that Odinga used to attack Ruto verbally. This should be a pre-planned rhetoric considering the many Harambee meetings and project commissioning trips DP Ruto has made to Bungoma.
Odinga said that the DP is busy donating millions in Harambees when Kenyan teachers, doctors and lecturers are striking to get a salary increment.
“Ruto anatembea na pesa kwa gunia, harambee, harambee. Mbona hiyo pesa haiko kwenye hazina ya serikali ilipe mshahara wa walimu? Ile harambee Ruto anatoa inatosha kulipa mshahara wa walimu. Sawa,” Raila said.
This comes after DP Ruto was heckled by angry youths in Bungoma town. He was accompanied by area governor Kenneth Lusaka. The youths said they were tired of being taken for a ride after many visits by Jubilee chiefs did not bring meaningful changes.
On the contrary, Odinga received a warm welcome. Other leaders present were senator Moses Wetangula, govenor Wycliffe Oparanya, senator Bonny Khalwale, Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu among others.
