This comes following calls from the Jubilee Party-affiliated members and some Cord members asked Raila to condemn corruption in Kilifi County.

Raila who was speaking to journalists during his tour to the coast on Wednesday, said the Kilifi county boss was already dealing with the individuals involved in the loss of public funds, and urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to borrow a leaf from Kingi in dealing with corrupt officers in his administration.

"I want to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta to borrow a leaf from the County Government of Kilifi especially with regard to the shameful scandal at Afya House," said the former Prime Minister.

"A leaf from Kilifi County could also help the President and his team get to the bottom of the scams like NYS and Eurobond that are making Kenyans lose faith in government," he added.

"We have never asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to step aside, we have been asking him to deal with those found culpable. Uhuru is head of the national government and should deal with his ministers, Kingi is on the other had is in charge of Kilifi county government and he is already dealing with his ministers, he is showing the way. What he has done at the county level should also be done at the national level," he explained.

He also took an issue with the media for hyping the Kilifi issue, telling them to be patient and let the concerned authorities carry on with the investigations to uncover the truth.

"For the sake of your profession do not try and chase the wind it will take you nowhere if the money lost in Kilifi is Sh1.8 billion as you have been reporting it will come out. The relevant bodies have already been put in place to do the investigations," he added.
