CORD leader Raila Odinga has reacted to President Uhuru’s Wednesday remarks that anyone planning to cause chaos would face the rule of law.
Raila said on Wednesday that the government should stop intimidating him with threats of chaos.
“I was here at Shimo la Tewa prison for three-and-a half years, Manyani prison for one year and all the major prisons in Kenya. I have suffered for this democracy you are enjoying as it has a price. Let Uhuru Kenyatta stop intimidating me. He has never been to a cell for a day,” Raila said as quoted by Nation.
President Uhuru had on Wednesday said that the opposition was being led by a ‘tribalist’ who has no passion for peace.
Raila in his reactionary comment said the government was in fact planning to cause chaos.
“Security Cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery displayed police equipment last week indicating that they are preparing for violence”, he said.
President Uhuru said that he will not allow any Kenyan to lose lives or property again because of elections.
Speaking in a separate rally in Kutus, Kerugoya; the head of state asked Raila to leave Kenyans to “choose who they want without your constant threats.” A statement from the president’s press service unit PSCU said Uhuru told Raila to stop blackmailing Kenyans with his threats of violence.
