Opposition leader Raila Odinga has said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto know the National Super Alliance is going to win the August presidential election but the two can’t admit.
Raila who spent the better part of Saturday campaigning in Machakos said Kenyans are tired of Jubilee’s non-performance and time has come for a fresh government to take over power and salvage Kenyans from the suffering they have been subjected to for the last five years.
“I want to tell Uhuru and Ruto there is nothing to smile about,” he said in company of NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi.
“Kenyans are saying there is no reason to laugh.”
He addressed a rally in Mavoko Stadium in Athi River where he reiterated that NASA has no plan to boycott the election as “we are going to win the polls and Uhuru and Ruto are aware of that and have sensed defeat.”
He said it was a shame that Kenyans were still suffering living in poverty, illiteracy and ignorance 54 years after the country got independence.
“That is why Kenyans want to make an about-turn. We have just eight days to the ballot and send Jubilee home,” Raila said.
“Let us make history on August 8 so that you have a story to tell your grand and great grandchildren. These matters are tough. Kenyans need change. The other day he (Uhuru) was barking ‘shame on Raila’ because we have uncovered their rigging plan.”
Uhuru has been blasting Raila at campaign rallies over the opposition leader’s claims Jubilee plans to use the military to rig the election.
Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi and his Defence counterpart Reychelle Omamo on Saturday dismissed the claims.
“There is a letter that was marked ‘Top Secret’ from KDF headquarters marked special transit goods. Special transit goods are ballot papers,” Raila said Friday.
He alleged the ballot papers will be transported to secret polling stations and marked in Uhuru’s favour.
