Cord leader and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga has sought to reassure his Coalition co-principal and supporters that should his former ally Musalia Mudavadi join the bandwagon then Wetangula would not be displaced.

"We are open to admit new members. Musalia's coming in, if that were to happen, will not undermine the position of Weta (Mr Wetangula) in Cord. He will have his place and Weta too," the former premier said.

Fears have been reported among Wetangula's supporters who feel Musalia's entry would undermine the Bungoma senator's position in the coalition.

Mudavadi who broke ranks with Odinga in the run-up for the 2013 elections has of late had kind words for his former ally.

"Raila is an important political player and a friend. We may have had different opinions in the past but we are not enemies. We have been together with Weta (Wetang'ula) for long in politics, just the other day we had breakfast together," said the Amani National Congress leader.

Mudavadi also sent clear signals that he would work together with the former premier in the run-up for next year's general elections.

"We may have different opinions on issues, but we can also find a lot of common ground on policy issues which would be for the benefit of the country. In our engagement with Raila and Cord, I would be happy to focus on what will be of common good to get the country moving forward," he added.
