Mombasa Church leaders have said they are ready to bring together President Uhuru Kenyatta with his rival Raila Odinga to table to dialogue.

The clergy, under the umbrella Mombasa Church Forum (MCF), said the country would only enjoy lasting peace if the two top leaders give dialogue a chance.

"We are willing and ready to bring President Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga together. All we are waiting for is for the two to drop their hard line stances," said Catholic Archbishop Martin Kivuva.

Kivuva, who is also MCF chairman, also said it would be unconstitutional for Raila Odinga to take oath office to be 'people's president'.

"Our Constitution does not allow for two presidents. The way to unlock the political uncertainty is for the leaders across political divide to engage in dialogue," he noted.

The Archbishop was speaking during a press briefing at the Holy Ghost Catholic Cathedral in Mombasa, before the lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Governor's office on Saturday night.

Other Bishops present were; Joseph Maisha, Samuel Omurema, Tee Nalo, Jeremiah Kesewa, Benson Muthama, Alfred Obuya, Evans Kulabi among others.

As they spoke, Raila vowed he will soon be sworn in saying Kenyatta was not keen on having talks with NASA.

"Nobody will stop me from lifting the Bible," he said when he inaugurated the Coast People's Assembly at Sun 'N' Sand Beach Resort in Kilifi County, Sunday.

"It is better to stand up for the truth and die while at it, than to die lying down," Raila added.
