The ODM leader Raila Odinga said Saturday the controversial Murang'a water project dubbed the 'Tunnels of Death; were not his words but were coined by the late Cabinet minister John Michuki.
Raila who was responding to a question regarding the controversy surrounding the Sh6.8 billion World Bank funded project, claimed the late Michuki coined the words adding that he only translated the quote from the Kikuyu dialect to English, as stated by the late minister.
""The late Michuki said these Tunnels of Death will be built over my dead body.""Therefore this is not my message, I only translated the words into the national language and the message is clear the Northern Collector water tunnel is not safe for the communities around Mount Kenya," said Raila during a youth forum in Kisii County on Saturday.
The Cord co-principal further denied claims he launched the project when he was Prime Minister in the grand coalition government.
