Raila who was speaking on Wednesday during a tour of the Coastal region called on the president to take responsibility and stop protecting corrupt individuals.

"Where we are today either the president is protecting the criminal businessmen some whom are associated with him or he has simply reached the end of his ability. None of these possibilities is helpful to Kenyans. The effect of the president shielding his cronies  from prosecution and from corruption and that is through not coming up with solutions to the corruption challenge may bring injury to Kenyans," Odinga said.

Raila also criticized the supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta who have constantly affirmed that the president personally is not a corrupt individual.

"Kenyans derive no benefits from the assurances from the supporters of the president keep giving to them that the president is not personally corrupt, that is no the issue," he said

"In the president's own language there is a saying that there is no difference between a thief and the observer, both are equally guilty. The president is therefore responsible for all the corruption happening under his watch," he added
