ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga now claims President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family is the reason why the country has stagnated economically.
Raila said Kenyatta's family and close allies have been engaging in massive looting of public resources which has stalled the country's economy.
“The President needs to look no further than the empire his family and associates assembled corruptly using public resources, if he is keen to understand why Kenya stagnated while the Republic of Korea moved forward,” Raila said in a statement on Wednesday.
The former Prime Minister added: “In the ill-acquired wealth of the family and associates lies Kenya’s lost years.”
The opposition chief was responding to President Uhuru who had constantly accused him of negative politics and empty rhetoric.
“He (Raila) is always spreading propaganda and painting Jubilee administration in a negative way but Kenyans are not fools. They can see what the government has done,” the Head of State had said during his tour in Kisii county on Wednesday.
The ODM leader poured cold water on the recent tour by President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto to Kisii and Nyamira counties terming the visit inconsequential.
“The Gusii people need no lecture on who initiated the infrastructural transformation in their county. Neither do they need to be told who the high priest of corruption in the country is. They are only too aware,” Raila added.
