Mr Gichana was arrested and detained over three years ago by Tanzanian authorities over alleged fraud and money laundering with the United States being keen to have him extradited to face the charges in America.

The family through spokesperson Elijah Makori on Tuesday made another special request to the Kenyans top political brass to intervene and have their son released.

“As the Gichana family, we are still disappointed with the slow and bureaucratic legal system of Tanzania which is a clear violation of basic Human Rights. We have been taken for granted and despite our son having friends from political class, nothing is still done,” he said.

“It’s our humble request to the President and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, both who enjoyed a cordial relationship with Don Bosco to intervene urgently and bring the matter to a closure. We have been getting promises from Mr Odinga but nothing yet has materialised,” he added.

They accused the Tanzanian government of being rigid in terminating the cases saying no single evidence has ever been brought to any court with regard to allegations.

“All they say is money laundering and fraud yet no single evidence is given. Don is our son and he is a Kenyan as well. It’s really sad to see him going through all that yet we have a government in place and even some of his best friends from political brass keeping mum on the matter,” he said.
