Opposition leader Raila Odinga has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto over massive corruption in government which is denying mega projects funding.
Raila said the duo has achieved nothing, adding that the mega projects being implemented now were his and former President Mwai Kibaki’s.
"Jubilee government should stop lying to Kenyans that they have completed many projects since they were elected. These projects were steered by me and Kibaki," Raila said.
Speaking on Sunday during a Bodaboda Network forum in Kisumu, Raila said Uhuru and Ruto should stop taking credit for the grand coalition government's projects.
He challenged the presidency to show Kenyans what it had achieved in the four years it has been in power.
Raila was accompanied by Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, Senator Anyang' Nyong’o, Kisumu woman rep Rose Nyamunga, Ruaraka MP Timothy Kajwang' and his counterparts Fred Outa (Nyando), Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) and Kabondo- Kasipul’s Silvance Osele.
The ODM Pary leader said Jubilee has failed Kenyans due to massive corruption, high cost of living, poor working conditions and bad leadership. He decried lack of money to fund mega projects due to massive looting.
"We have seen money being carried in sacks for donation in harambees. What is the source of such huge amount of money being donated if not from state coffers?" he was quoted by The Star.
Raila added that opposition regions have suffered economic marginalisation, ethnic discrimination and political oppression for years.
He criticised the proposed transfer of cargo handling from Mombasa and failure to set up industries in Western Kenya which has led to high rate of unemployment.
