Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) faces slippery times, after over a dozen officials in Kisii County issued a 7-day ultimatum to party leader Raila Odinga to revoke the appointment of Thomas Mwadeghu as the party’s national vice chairman.
According to the party grassroots officials drawn from Nyamira and Kisii County respectively, the officials said it was a grave mistake to appoint Mwadeghu to such a prominent post while he had failed to popularize the in his region.
The officials stated that the former Wundanyi MP who unsuccessfully contested for gubernatorial post in the region had wrecked the party and needed to be dropped.
Led by ODM County Secretary Shem Ondara the official claimed that the party was dying due to wrong appointments being made by Raila.
“We know officials who work at the grassroots but end up being treated like pariahs while those people who contributed nothing were being rewarded,” said Ondara
On the same event, the officials also pointed out that ODM party agents in the region had not been paid their dues since 2017 despite the fact that they worked hard for the party.
“We also urged Raila to make follow up on why the ODM officials who acted as party agents in the last elections haven’t been paid,“ said Ondara
