The statement became evident after Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan, also Wiper Secretary-General, asked Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga to ensure that he becomes the next county boss.
Omar, who is contesting for Mombasa governorship currently held by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Ali Hassan Joho, said that Raila should ensure that Wiper does not lose during the else for the sake of the peaceful co-existence within the political outfit.
"If Raila endorsed Kidero to be Nairobi governor and even gave him a free nomination, then he must ensure that a Wiper governor is elected in Mombasa...That is the true NASA spirit," said Omar.
The senator’s remarks come at a time when leaders of the opposition have been preaching unity as they seek to rise to power after the August General elections.
Raila and Kalonzo are expected to make a choice over whom to back for the area’s governance after efforts for joint nominations proved futile. Both Omar and Joho have already been given a green light to contest for the governorship with each naming a running mate.
