Governor William Kabogo has hit out at Cord leader Raila Odinga over his claims that Jubilee government is using Euro-bond proceeds to fund the launch of the new Jubilee Party.
Kabogo on Friday termed Raila’s claims as unfounded and baseless.
He said that Raila is unhappy about the merger and launch of Jubilee Party and wants to tarnish the name of the government.
Kabogo claimed that the opposition has already sensed defeat in the 2017 elections and has embarked on a smear campaign to tarnish President Uhuru Kenyatta's name.
Speaking after commissioning construction of Mwihoko Water Project in Ruiru Sub County on Friday, Kabogo said Jubilee has supporters who have contributed money to its launch.
He said no single cent has been taken from public coffers to fund the new party.
“Opposition leaders are not happy about the progress Jubilee government has made and want to tarnish everything through their outrageous claims,” he said.
Kabogo while lauding the new Jubilee Party said it will rid the country off tribal politics.
He said the new party symbolizes new democratic space in the country.
Opposition leaders have been questioning the source of Jubilee billions being spent on the launch of the new party.
The new Jubilee Party will be officially launched Saturday by President Uhuru Kenyatta and will be his vehicle for his 2017 re-election bid.
