The Cord leader has been facing tribulations in the unsettled Western region the recent storm being hostility he faced at Mumias during his five days tour to the rich voting bloc.

But Mr Apoko on Sunday observed that Khalwale’s long record on fighting impunity would allow Mr Odinga save his energies in campaigning in the region since he is not easily compromised.

“The Western kingpin should be Khalwale because his record in fighting impunity and corruption is well known. He cannot be compromised easily and this means any goodies from government cannot deter him from fighting against social injustices,” he said.

“The Senator is so outstanding that someone like Raila can rely on him. He is consistent in executing his responsibilities and having him will reduce troubles in the Western province,” he added.

Mr Apoko added: “Khalwale is someone who can be elected on any party which means he can be able to bring unity among the Luhya nations and it’s my wish that Raila identifies that and banks on him."

Senator Khalwale is best known for the role he played in the impeachment of former Finance Minister Amos Kimunya during the grand coalition government.
