Gatanga MP Joseph Nduati has warned the Opposition against proceeding with its plan to swear-in NASA leader Raila Odinga as the People's President.
Speaking on Tuesday during the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Jogoo Kimakia grounds, the lawmaker called on the coalition to call off the ceremony permanently, asserting that the issue has caused anxiety among many Kenyans.
He further told NASA to forget dialogue with Jubilee on poll matters, noting that the electioneering period is over.
"Any dialogue that may be held between the government and the opposition should be on development and not on whether we should go back to the ballot. Elections are over and Kenyans want services,” he said.
On Sunday, NASA postponed plans to swear-in the former Prime Minister, after what they termed as 'wide consultations.'
The ceremony was scheduled for yesterday.
It remains unclear if the Opposition will still pursue the matter, amid growing pressure from different quarters urging the leaders to shelve the plan.
