Coalition for reforms and democracy (Cord) principal Raila Odinga has urged the Luo community in Mombasa to support Governor Hassan Joho’s re-election bid.

The former Prime minister said the community has to speak in one voice in order to ascend to power during the next general election.

He also called upon the community to not only back Joho but other Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidates as well, as the party looks forward to clinching several seats in the region.

"There is nothing wrong with disagreeing in principle over political issues, but that should not bring division among yourselves, because after all you are one family," said Raila, as quoted by the Standard.

Raila’s call comes after a section of members from the community pointed an accusing finger at Joho for allegedly sidelining them in the affairs of the county.

The reports were however dismissed by the Mombasa Luo community Charles Rambo, who said two or three political brokers are lying to Raila Odinga about their state.

"[The two or three people] cannot speak for the whole community. They are rebels who do not have the interests of ODM at heart,” said Rambo as quoted by The Star.
