Mark Too, a political analyst, says the visit was targeted at neutralising Jubilees impact following the many prior visits by the government coalition, with the last being the Madaraka Day ceremony.

“Cord does not want to take chances in the 2017 elections. They are following suit to tame Jubilee's growing popularity especially in Nakuru where Jubilee have expressed much interest,” he says.

Raila was in Nakuru yesterday addressing his supporters in a move the analyst says aims at getting back a grip of Nakuru from Jubilee.

“Cord is also trying to make an impact even if minimal. It is a good strategy so that they do not lose out completely on Nakuru which will have a significant impact in the 2017 elections due to its numbers,” he says.

Raila's weekend meeting was botched after rowdy  pro-Jubilee youths invaded his gathering at a Nakuru hotel forcing him to leave prematurely.
