President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have taken a swipe on Opposition coalition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga ahead of the August polls.

Speaking on Thursday during their tour of Embu county, the duo called on the locals to reject Raila's presidential bid, warning that the former premier was plotting to amend the constitution to accommodate all the NASA co-principals.

Ruto argued that a Raila presidency would lead to wastage of public resources through a ballooned wage bill.

“When he was the Prime Minister, he promised that not even a comma would be changed from the Constitution, but now that he is no longer in power, he wants to change the Constitution,” Uhuru said.

NASA is a conglomeration of five key Opposition leaders, including ODM's Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, Musalia Mudavadi of ANC, Senator Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya and Chama Cha Mashinani's Bomet governor Isaack Rutto.
