Speaking in Naivasha on Tuesday, Raila said failure to implement the agreement will see the 2022 turn chaotic.

“Without the changes we envisage in the MoU, 2022 will be messy. It will come with the same confusion, heartbreaks and possibly chaos. We are trying to forestall such eventualities,” said Odinga.

Raila was addressing ODM's National Excutive Council where he told members that a referendum will address the issues agreed on in the unity pact.

"Addressing some of these issues may require changes to some of our laws and even amendments to the constitution. When that time comes, we must be bold enough to pick up the challenge as a matter of duty to the nation,” he said.

The issue of a referendum has sent jitters within the political class as some oppose it.

Deputy President William Ruto has openly opposed as move to change the constitution to create more positions for leaders.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has remained cagey over the matter.
