James Ongwae has refuted claims that opposition leader Raila Odinga fueled 2007/08 Post election Violence that left at least 1300 people dead and thousand others homeless.

On Wednesday when addressing residents on Nyanturago, President Uhuru Kenyatta accused Odinga of inciting Kenyans yet again after allegedly sponsoring the chaos which almost left the country torn apart.

But in a quick rejoinder, the Kisii Governor said Uhuru’s remarks were regrettable urging him to apologize to the Gusii community.

“We have moved on as a community and the President is quite unfair to come here and remind us what had happened,” he told the media on Thursday.

Ongwae added: “Those who killed and displaced our people are known but they do not want to admit. Raila has never been part of chaos before he has the country at heart.”

Uhuru’s remarks sparked simultaneous demonstrations in Kisii for the better part of Wednesday evening with residents accusing Jubilee government of failing to compensate PEV victims.

In his address, Uhuru challenged the opposition leader to desist from ‘dragging’ Kenyans to hi past achievements and failures adding that Odinga should live in the present.
