Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka says that Liberal Democratic was not owned by opposition leader Raila Odinga, contrary to perceptions of many.
LDP entered into a pre-election pact with Democratic Party to form Narc which eventually won 2002 General elections under the stewardship of Mwai Kibaki.
In his Against All Odds memoirs, Kalonzo reveals that he was the first signatory of the party that was associated with Odinga.
“Many think that LDP is Raila Odinga’s party which is a wrong perception. I was the first signatory of the party and I used to transact its business as the owner,” says Kalonzo.
“Raila only popularized the party to our credit as opposition by them. We won many parliamentary seats, beating KANU by far contrary to our expectations,” adds Kalonzo.
Raila Odinga played an integral role in 2002 polls by campaigning for Mwai Kibaki, who had been involved in a road accident.
