National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga Monday reiterated that the opposition is not leaving anything to chance for the August polls.
Raila said NASA leaders and supporters will be all eyes during the poll to prevent cases of rigging, alleging that in the March 4, 2013 general election, victory was stolen from him.
“We learned the hard way in 2013 and this time round, we are not going to take chances,” Raila said during a campaign rally at Ndumbuini grounds in Kangemi, Nairobi County.
The former Prime Minister said NASA supporters should adopt a polling station in a move to guard their votes.
He said that the Opposition alliance intends to deploy five agents in each polling station to ensure a nearly 100% voter turn-out, especially in their perceived strongholds.
“The people who will vote first on the election day should mobilise those who will not have voted including the sick in hospitals. Our supporters must also remain at the polling stations to guard our votes in the event of a possible rigging,” he remarked.
NASA is in the process of recruiting more than 200,000 presidential agents to be deployed at all the 45,000 polling stations during the August 8 general election.
The Alliance has also announced that it is conducting final tests to the electronic equipment in its tallying centre in a Nairobi suburb as it gears up for the poll.
“The five agents, in each polling station, will have access to our parallel tally systems so that voter outcome in the particular station is exactly what will be reflected in our tallying system,” Raila disclosed during a recent interview on a local TV.
