National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Monday took a swipe at Nairobi Jubilee gubernatorial candidate Mike Sonko, saying the Senator is ‘unfit’ to be the capital’s CEO.

Speaking when he took his campaigns to Dagoreti North and Westlands constituencies of Nairobi County, Raila said it would be a ‘shame’ to have Sonko as the city governor.

“I don’t want to be a President of Kenya who goes out for a meeting and on returning, it is Jubilee’s Mike Sonko that is receiving me at the airport. It will be a shame,” said Raila during a rally at Kangemi.

The former Prime Minister urged the Opposition supporters to rally behind the incumbent Governor Evans Kidero and support other ODM candidates.

“I want to appeal to our supporters to vote the six-piece suit pattern from the Members of County Assemblies to the President,” he said.

Nairobi's gubernatorial race is promising to be a titanic duel as both Jubilee and NASA have warned each other of a fierce battle.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have been campaigning for Sonko and have expressed confidence that Jubilee will wrest Nairobi County from Kidero.

“We urge Nairobi residents to support Jubilee in the county as we are fronting candidates who have a deep understanding of Nairobi’s problems,” said Uhuru during a rally in Nairobi’s Eastlands early this month.

Also seeking to oust Kidero is former Raila Odinga’s aide Miguna Miguna who is running as an independent candidate.
