At a time when there has been increased pressure on the Cord leader Raila Odinga to endorse another person as the coalition’s flag bearer in the 2017 poll, his close friends have warned that the former Prime Minister will be in the ballot come next year.

This comes at a time when there are reports that Raila is planning to bring ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi into the coalition and endorse him for the country’s top seat.

However, according to the Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who is Raila’s right-hand man, negotiations within Cord are open but only if Raila is the presidential candidate.

“Any other insinuations are just figments of imagination. And for the record, Raila will be on the ballot in 2017,” Junet said as quoted by the Star.

According to the ODM Chairman John Mbadi, the narrative for Mudavadi going for the seat on Cord ticket is just a lie that is peddled by the media.

“I don’t think there is no politician who has come out to say that Cord, or Raila for that matter, will endorse a Musalia-Kalonzo ticket. I think the media has been trying to fish for information," said Mbadi.

According to him, the coalition’s flag bearer will be announced at the right time even though he indicated that that may happen in early 2017.
