Hours after photos of a devastated Boniface Manono went viral on Kenyan social media platforms, Raila Odinga has swung into action by offering to clear all hospital bills for the victims of Monday brutality by the anti-riot police.
According to media reports by an online news agency, Manono who had been alleged to be dead is alive and currently undergoing specialised medical attention by professional doctors at the Coptic Hospital in Nairobi. The news agency interviewed the victim on his health condition, where he explained that he is gradually recuperating courtesy of Raila who offered to cater for all his medical fees. However, Manono said that he had woken up from his Kibera home to attend to an appointment with a taxi company only to get himself entangled in protests and picketing by Cord supporters in the streets of Nairobi. He clearly distanced himself from the protests, noting that although he is a staunch supporter of Raila, he had not planned to attend the Monday protests.
