Wiper Party leader and former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has opposed the move to pick Amani National Coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi as Coalition for reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Amolo Odinga' s running mate.
In an interview with Citizen TV, the Ukambani political kingpin has termed such a move political suicide .“We seriously disagree with that statement …. And this is the politics of betrayal, people want true leadership to emerge,” Kalonzo said.
Recently, there have been speculations that Mudavadi stands a chance of becoming Raila's running mate after he agreed to work closely with Cord leader to smoke President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy from office come 2017.
The outspoken politician said it will be betrayal if Raila opts to pick Mudavadi over him and Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula considering the many sacrifices they have made on behalf of the coalition.
His sentiments come at a time when speculations were doing rounds that Raila was planning to endorse Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to become his running mate.
Governor Joho became the talk of town after he was chosen to spearhead the former prime minister's campaign as he looks forward to unseat Uhuruto from office in what is considered his last chance to fight for presidency.
