Nominated Senator, Millicent Omanga, has raised her voice, after the Opposition's NASA leadership, withdraw its candidature from fresh presidential election.

Making the announcement, Tuesday, NASA, led by presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka, cited lack of political goodwill from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Jubilee Party.

They further called for fresh election as per the Constitution.

Omanga, a Jubilee Party lawmaker, issued a short communication, as shown below.

"Regulation 52 is the only known mechanism for withdrawing ones candidature post nomination. This regulation was enacted by Parliament in 2017 vide legal notice no 72 many years after SCOK 2013.

It requires one intending to withdraw their candidature to do so 3 days post nomination. IEBC gazetted and affirmed the continued status of the presidential candidates on 5th September 2017.

Consequently a withdrawal at this point has no legal basis. Raila shall remain on the ballot. Other commonwealth jurisdictions like The U.K and Canada have similar mechanisms."
