A section of MPs from Western Kenya have urged Cord co-principal Moses Wetangula to quit the coalition saying that he will never be president of this country if he stays.
The MPs claim that the Ford Kenya party leader’s dreams of becoming president cannot be realised unless he immediately ditches the Coalition.
The MPs led by Bumula’s Boniface Otsiula claimed that Wetangula is only being used and will be dumped just like others have been dumped before.
“We are telling our brother Moses Wetangula to wake up while it’s still early and ditch Cord because his presidential dreams are not in Cord,” said the Bumula MP as quoted by the Star Newspaper on Monday.
On Sunday Sirisia MP John Walukhe who has already resigned as Bungoma ODM chairman said that Wetangula has no future in Cord.
Walukhe asked the Bungoma senator to quickly make up his mind if he really wants to be the President of this country.
“If others were in ODM and left with nothing then Wetangula should know that the same fate awaits him,” he said.
The resignation of Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba as ODM secretary general has renewed calls for the Western region to form a political alignment that will confront Jubilee and Cord in the 2017 elections.
There have been claims that Ababu has reached out to Wetangula asking him to quit Cord and form their own party.
Wetangula is a co-principal of Cord and has shown interest in the presidential election in 2017.
Wetangula launched his presidential bid in April this year while maintaining that he is in Cord to stay.
Cord other Co-principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka have also shown interest in the presidential seat come 2017.
Raila, Kalonzo and Wetangula have on several occasions vowed to work together and clinch the 2017 elections.
However, political analysts say that it is just a matter of time before the three leaders part ways bearing in mind that they all have shown interest in the presidential seat and want each other to support them.
