Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) Leader Raila Amolo Odinga fight to win both the senate and governor seats in Nairobi is almost becoming a reality after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal allowed the political outfit to pick its best senatorial candidate.

Raila’s party has, however, been given 48 hours to decide who between Bukachi Chapia and lawyer Edwin Sifuna will contest against Jubilee’s Johnson Sakaja after Senator Mike Sonko opted to  join the governorship race.

Earlier on, Bukachi had been issued with the ODM certificate since there was no candidate who had shown interest in the seat but his joy was short lived when Sifuna announced his dreams to become the next senator of Nairobi.

Sifuna had sought for the Kanduyi parliamentary but he was floored. ODM went on to issue the certificate to Sifuna, claiming that he has more resources to contest for the seat compared to Bukachi.

Kyalo Mbobu, the tribunal chairman, said that it is upon the party to decide on who to give the ticket since no primaries were conducted in the area.

"Since no primaries were held, the only way to solve this dispute is to let the party decide," Kyalo Mbobu, the tribunal chairman said.

The chairman added; "We are not here to micro-manage parties. Let the party decide who it wants to represent it in accordance with its constitution."
