He was referring to Cord's weekly protests to remove IEBC commissioners from office before the 2017 general elections.

"The Cord leader Raila Odinga, by all definitions, is an old man, but age comes with wisdom and not violence," he wrote on Facebook on Monday evening.

Murkomen said ODM did not learn from the violence that followed the 2007/8 election, leaving at least 1,200 dead and 600,000 displaced.

"Yes, he has contested and lost many elections. Yes, he may have only one political bullet. Yes, time may not be on his side," said the Senator.

"But he surely cannot turn political desperation into an avenue for destroying the economic and political fabric of this country."

He said Kenya must move as "trying Tahrir Square protests in our country will not work; it is counterproductive."

"My question is this: how many lives and [how much] property should be lost and destroyed just for one man to access power?"

On Monday, at least two protesters were shot dead in the demos against IEBC in Kisumu.
